When Erica and Katie the fabulous ladies from Duo Events approached me to capture and contribute to this elopement project I knew it would become something truly magical. I am so incredibly proud to have had the opportunity to capture the real love and connection of Kate and Clare.
Equality and celebrating love in all its forms is very close to my heart and deeply connected my own journey in life.
We really wanted to showcase that an ‘elopement’ is about how a couple intentionally and intensely celebrate their love and commitment to one another. A day just for them.
A key element of the shoot was to emphasise the passage of time and the transition between periods of an elopement day. We chose to do this visually with a strong contrasting palette of only white and black. Commencing with a calm white on white morning, then moving to a more energetic mixed white and black afternoon, followed by a rich and embracing black on black evening look.
We framed the shoot entirely around ‘connection’ – deciding that a minimal but animated style would be the best way to not only showcase a different way to celebrate love but also bring the focus clearly back to what it is about at the end of the day – a ‘distinct’ kind of love.
